Connect an AI assistant to ODUS
ODUS has a remote MCP server. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or another AI assistant, and the assistant can answer questions about your payments, customers, subscriptions, invoices, products and orders by reading them from ODUS, for example "which payments failed yesterday, and why?".
The server is read-only. An assistant can look data up and search this documentation, but it cannot create, change, refund or delete anything.
Server URL
https://mcp.odus.com/mcp
It reads your production data. The server uses the Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth. You sign in with your ODUS Dashboard account. There is no API key to create, and no client ID or secret to enter: your assistant registers itself with ODUS the first time it connects.
Set up your assistant
| Assistant | Guide |
|---|---|
| Claude on the web, desktop and mobile | Claude |
| Claude Code | Claude Code |
| ChatGPT | ChatGPT |
| VS Code with GitHub Copilot | VS Code |
| Cursor | Cursor |
| Windsurf, Codex, Gemini CLI and other clients | Other MCP clients |
Sign in and approve
Every assistant sends you to the same ODUS page the first time it connects:
- Sign in to the Dashboard, if you are not already signed in. The page names the app asking for access. Check that it is the app you are connecting from, and choose Deny if it is not.
- If you belong to more than one organization, choose one under Organization. One connection reads one organization. To use another, connect again and choose that one.
- Choose what the assistant can read:
- All of my permissions gives it every read permission your role has, and follows your role when it changes.
- Choose permissions gives it only the permissions you tick. It can't go beyond your role.
- Choose Approve. The browser returns to your assistant, and the server is ready.
Most assistants register themselves when they connect, so the page marks them as an unverified app: ODUS cannot confirm who publishes them, and the name shown is the name the app gave itself. That is expected. What matters is that you started the connection yourself, from the assistant the page names.
If you choose Deny, nothing is connected and your assistant shows that the connection failed.
What an assistant can read
| An assistant can | Needs the permission to read |
|---|---|
| List the merchant accounts you have access to | No permission needed |
| Search the ODUS documentation and read a page | No permission needed |
| Read a merchant account's settings | Merchant configuration |
| Search across payments, customers and other records by ID or keyword | Search |
| Search payments, read a payment and list its transactions | Payments |
| Summarise payments over a period | Reports |
| List customers and read a customer | Customers |
| List subscriptions and read a subscription | Subscriptions |
| List invoices and read an invoice | Invoices |
| List products and read a product | Products |
| List prices and read a price | Prices |
| List orders and read an order | Orders |
An assistant reads the same data the Dashboard shows you, one merchant account at a time. It never sees a full card number: a payment shows the card brand, the first six and last four digits, the expiry and the cardholder name, as the Dashboard does. API keys, team members and request logs are never available to an assistant, whatever your role.
If a connection lacks a permission, the assistant is told it has no access to that data. It doesn't get an empty result.
Change or remove a connection
Each connection is listed in the Dashboard under Settings > Personal > Connected apps, with the organization it reads, its permissions and when it was last used.
- To change what a connection can read, choose Edit permissions. The change applies within a minute.
- To disconnect an assistant, choose Disconnect. It loses access within a minute. To reconnect, connect from the assistant again and approve it again.
A connection also stops working when you leave the organization or your account is deactivated.
Signing out of the Dashboard or changing your password leaves your connections in place. To stop an assistant reading your data, disconnect it under Settings > Personal > Connected apps.
If you don't use a connection for 30 days, your assistant asks you to sign in and approve it again.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The assistant says it has no access to some data | The connection lacks that permission, or your role does. Check the connection under Settings > Personal > Connected apps, and ask an administrator of your organization if your role lacks it. |
| The assistant can't find a payment you can see in the Dashboard | Check that the connection reads the right organization. One connection reads one organization. |
| The assistant asks you to sign in again | The connection was disconnected, or unused for 30 days. Sign in and approve again. |
| Signing in fails with a redirect or registration error | Update your assistant to its latest version. If it still fails, connect through mcp-remote, which works with any client that runs local servers. |
Using the documentation with AI tools
The server can also search this documentation, the guides and the Core API v2 and OMS API reference, and read any page of it, so an assistant connected to ODUS can answer integration questions from the current docs. To give a tool the documentation without connecting it, see Using AI tools.
