payment.attempt_failed

Webhook

Sent when a payment attempt fails: the processor declined it, a payment awaiting customer action returned to open without being authorized, or the processor denied a payment it had held for review, which returns a payment already reported by payment.succeeded to open. When a cascade or route moves a payment on to another gateway, it is sent for each attempt that failed, so it can arrive before payment.succeeded for the same payment. Retrieve the payment to see whether it is still open.

This describes webhook payload version 2. Version 1 sends the same envelope, with data in the shape of the object's retrieve endpoint; the Webhooks guide explains both.

Acknowledges the delivery. Respond within 15 seconds; any other response, or none, is retried.
