# Checkout.com

Checkout.com is a cloud-based payment platform that enables businesses to accept payments globally through a unified API.

## Checkout.com account setup

1. Create a [Checkout.com account](https://www.checkout.com/) if you don't already have one.
2. Obtain your API keys from the [Checkout.com Dashboard](https://dashboard.checkout.com/) under **Developers > Keys**.
3. Copy the **Secret key**.
4. Note your **Processing Channel ID** — you can find it under **Settings > Channels**.

## Credential verification

When you create or update the gateway profile, ODUS verifies the **Secret Key** against Checkout.com before saving. If verification fails, the profile is not saved and an error is returned.
