# Connect VS Code to ODUS

Add ODUS to VS Code as an MCP server. GitHub Copilot can then read your ODUS data in agent mode.

## Add the server

Create `.vscode/mcp.json` in your project, or add the entry to the file if it exists:

```
{
  "servers": {
    "odus": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.odus.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

The file holds no credential, so you can commit it: each person who uses it signs in with their own ODUS account.

To add the server for yourself in every workspace instead, run **MCP: Open User Configuration** from the Command Palette and add the same entry there. **MCP: Add Server** in the Command Palette does the same, step by step: choose **HTTP**, then paste the URL.

## Sign in

1. Start the server: choose **Start** above its entry in `mcp.json`, or run **MCP: List Servers** and start it there.
2. VS Code says the server wants to authenticate to `mcp.odus.com`. Choose **Allow**. Your browser opens the ODUS Dashboard.
3. Sign in and approve the connection, as [Sign in and approve](https://docs.odus.com/docs/guides/ai-connector/.md#sign-in-and-approve) describes.

## Use it

Open the Chat view, switch to **Agent** mode, and check that the ODUS tools are ticked in the tools picker. Then ask a question, for example "fetch payment pay\_2mXGTxXIkqv4uSdbm8DJCzvHUIu and write a TypeScript type for its response".

Copilot asks before it runs a tool. You can allow a tool for the session, the workspace or always.

## Disconnect

Remove the entry from `mcp.json`, and disconnect it in the Dashboard under **Settings > Personal > Connected apps**.
